Other suggestions

I thought this might be easier on the admin for people that have suggestions that aren't about scoring and are more one off questions/suggestions with nothing to do with anything. Think of it like a qtddtot.
Mine's to do with the side bar with "New Albums", "Popular Albums", etc. Can we get one of those buttons which displays every album we haven't guessed? Otherwise, if we're trying to guess albums we didn't know the first time around, we have to go through every single page and look for the ones without ticks and crosses on them. It would make like so much easier.AdminPosted on 11/26/2014 at 8:36 AM
That's a good idea. Given my hope for the popularity of the site, one day there will be so many albums that clicking through the lists of albums will show you mostly albums you haven't guessed, but right now, that's not necessarily the case.

Seconded

Given the new "hide guessed albums" setting, I'd also suggest adding a "hide own albums" one. After all, one can't guess any of its own.

Maybe an optional comparison of the drawing with the actual album art when guessed? Don't know how that would work out with copyrights and all though.

Maybe a quick link to Wikipedia/discogs or something?

No clue how hard this would be to do, but I would love some search function to prevent to many duplicates coming up. Of course, it would be silly if it linked you to the page (as you would have a 100% chance of getting it right) so here's what I'm thinking. You go to the search, enter in a Artist and Title, and then it either tells you "Nope, hasn't been done yet" or "This album has been drawn X times." Even better would be if it told you the dates that they were drawn, and how many times each one has been guessed, but just the first bit would be enough.

I'd like to see what other people have guessed for albums after you guess it correctly.
roryPosted on 12/3/2014 at 11:42 PM
I'm with what shitfucker666 suggests. It could be an option available for whoever drew the respective album. I personally want to know why so many people are getting this wrong http://guessthatalbum.com/albums/view/240

It bears a strong resemblance to Monoliths & Dimensions I think. I know it's not that, but I don't know what it is either.

YEah, I thought it was Sunn O))).

Maybe there could be an adjustable number of things that appear on a page? It's kind of hard to find certain albums sometimes, and a search function is obviously out of the question, so the ability to have a lot more albums on one page makes it easier by not having to flip through so many pages or go to the random album page so many times.
AdminPosted on 12/5/2014 at 8:43 AM
@Peacock Roy I might do that. The "settings" page is a little bare in terms of actual settings.
@Shitfucker666 Might be cool. It would be interesting to see what weird ideas people had about an album you drew.
@Strongbad I could put a little warning on the drawing page saying "this album has been drawn X times" when you type in the title and artist. It could theoretically be used for evil as you could type in any album, see that it was on the site, and then go out and look for it, but with the amount of albums we now have, that would be tedious to say the least. I'll have to think about that one.
Keep 'em coming, guys.WolfPosted on 12/5/2014 at 8:11 PM
I think the "hide own album" would be really useful as Seben suggested
