Is what @TwigTwo's doing considered 'cheating'?

  • They're essentially doing brute force; they intentionally guess albums wrong, then does a seaerch for duplicates of that album to guess correctly, since guessing an album wrong gives you its answer.

    Is this considered cheating?

  • In the past, other people have done it with no problem. (That's how I figured out how to do it.) It's just another way of playing the game. It's like Solitaire, but with album covers instead of playing cards. I mean, isn't that what the 'Guess Later' function is for? It saves albums while you figure out the answer. Anyway... I don't think it's against the rules, but I'll stop if the Admin doesn't approve.

  • Edit:

If it helps... I can't get unlimited points doing this. There are only so many albums, that you guys dependably draw over and over, that I know I'm going to see again... I've racked up around 8,000 points doing this, but that's out of 213,318 points. It helps, for sure, but it's not a winning strategy ...and now everyone(that reads the forums) knows where they can get 8,000 free points!

  • Also, I guess I should say (for the benefit of the Admin and anyone else who remembers my first account) that I've never gone back and double-guessed albums I've already guessed under my first account, TwigTW. (yeah, I'm sure I did one or two accidentally, but I never go back into the albums before 2020 to avoid that). That would seem like cheating to me--and boring waste of time. There would be no sport or fun in it.

  • It might be slightly against the spirit of the game but it's not cheating and I don't plan to do anything about it. Since there's no way to group albums by artist name or title, it's actually pretty difficult to track down two that match, especially if it's an obscure album that's rarely drawn. As TwigTwo mentioned, it's not nearly as lucrative as the most common form of cheating, which is knowingly guessing albums you've already guessed before by introducing typos into your answer.

  • Ok, thanks.
