Is there a problem with "already guessed" detection?

In the past few days I've come across albums I've guessed that I couldn't believe I hadn't guessed before. But I've just realized there's a common factor with all of these albums - they all include a form of punctuation in either the artist or album name. Whether it be a period, comma, slash, apostrophe etc. I don't remember this ever being a problem before, so I'm wondering if this is something recent. I usually double check on easily recognizable albums if I've overlooked them for being too obvious, but I don't want to be awarded points for albums I've already guessed due to a technical glitch.

Detection of duplicates isn't really "broken" because it was never really working correctly in the first place. Duplicate detection is done really lazily by just comparing the album titles for equivalency, so subtitles or differences in punctuation will mess it up. Same with artists. Swapping the order of artists in a collab, or using a different pseudonym for the artist, will "break" it.
This subject comes up fairly often and I usually promise to fix it "eventually", but I've been saying that for five years now.asdfpicklePosted on 6/18/2020 at 3:54 PM
Been broken so long it might as well just be a feature now.
