IP check to avoid cheating with 2 accounts?

  I don't know if anyone would really do this but wouldn't it be possible to create a fake account, make a wrong guess where you don't know the answer, get the right one then and use this with your main account? I think it would reduce the fun totally but maybe there are some "I want to be No.1" douchebags in the future… Maybe some kind of IP Check would/could prevent that?
  
  edit: Or maybe the correct answer shouldn't be shown if you're wrong. You will just never know it if you can't guess it :)

  I already have a check in place for exactly the situation you described. I have a secret Admin page where I can see albums where two of the guesses come from the same IP address.
  
  As it turns out, we already have a case of duplicate accounts on the site. One account gets it wrong, then the other one comes in and gets it right. If that user reads the forums, I'd like to warn him to cut that shit out now before I ban both of his accounts. He can just abandon one account and I'll forget the whole thing ever happened. I don't want to lose users so early into the life of the site, but I also don't want people manipulating the system.

  That's how it was when I first started coding the site, but I wanted people to see the answer in case they wanted to check the band out - make it a little bit about music discovery as well as music knowledge.

  Cool :) Thanks for the info, And that "checking out the band" indeed makes sense - besides it would drive me mad if I thought I knew an albu,, yet guessed wrong and won't get the correct answer :D
